Here you go people - we've been awaiting this for a while now, just had the go ahead from Mr Weatherall's management and I'm happy to let you all know the mix from April 15th is now up for grabs on Soundcloud.
It's only up for a couple of weeks and limited to 150 downloads, so get in quick. Probably worth following the unity agency if you're partial to a bit of DJ action. They are handling my bookings and Disco Deviant club nights and they are currently posting Dj sets from the roster on a fairly steady basis.
The Weatherall night was absolutely amazing and a lot of you were there, and have been asking if I had the sets recorded. Those of you that missed out, enjoy listening but why not make it along next week ?
The next Disco Deviant is on Fri June 3 at Audio, Brighton with Horse Meat Disco in the house. Severino and Jim Stanton will be at the helm alongside Go Bang DJ's and myself - tickets are in the shops Rounder & Resident and are available online via ticketweb and RA
Here's an absolutely lovely midtempo mix from Spain courtesy of Rayko. It's up on The Unity Agency page and is well worth an hour of listening, if you fancy feeling a nice summery mood seep into your psyche then press play. Expertly blended soul, disco and funk. The Unity Agency Mix #6 - Rayko (05.2011) by The Unity Agency
One of the best mixes I have listened to this year courtesy of Chamboche. It really has some excellent tracks and one that stood out is Trick & Kubic - Easy.
Never heard it before but it works well in his set. The mix is available for download on Unity's soundcloud so grab yourself a copy.
We're edging ever forward to what looks like a great couple of weekends ahead. Firstly the Rooftop Parties we're all so in love with are due to re-emerge hopefully in the splendor of glorious sunshine. We have had a few issues with our first venue double booking but all has been resolved and we have found a rooftop set to make you smile and booked the sound and DJ's:
BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY MAY 29th // 3pm - 11.30pm // Secret Venue // £2 door // Guest List ONLY // Venue Announced on the eve of the party.
If you haven't done so already and want to come email guest list requests across: FULL NAMES please to contrabanddjs@gmail.com We will drop you an exclusive Pablo ContrabandRooftop Mixand confirm you are on the list, please remember this party is for friends and their friends only.
On Friday June 3rd Disco Deviant have booked none other than Horse Meat Disco at Audio. It's looking hot to trot, their new compilation is superb and we're looking forward to Jim Stanton & Severino rocking the joint. Go Bang DJ's and Pablo Contraband are also on the line up so it will be fun to have the local talent going head to head with the darlings of the scene! Grab a ticket online from RA or R$N pop down to Resident or Rounder records £7. We're really looking forward to the proper disco treatment at this one. Should be a full on PARTY! Spread the word FB event I expect to see a mixed crowd at this one and no doubt some flamboyant attire - Studio 54 style!
Other news worth mentioning is the recent formation on The Unity Agency - the roster is somewhat sublime and we'll be launching the agency proper with a few parties mid-late summer. Take a click on the page on FB or go listen to the mixes upped on Soundcloud.Really excited at the prospect of working with some extremely talented artists.
Finally, Andrew Weatherall delivered a superb set at Disco Deviant in April, we have the recording and are awaiting approval to upload shortly, these will be available on discodeviant.com as soon as we get the nod. So keep an eye out. A BIG BIG thanks to all of you that came along, a truly memorable night bursting at the seams with atmosphere and moody pitched down psyche disco that only Weatherall could deliver in such style.
Stumbled on this monster courtesy of Sloth Boogie , I'm a fan of Mario Basanov's and his last outing with Vidis - I'll be gone is an amazing track that I love to play and listen to.
This release and remix package is another quality production, backdoor R&B that I'm lapping up here. Sure to be played pretty much everywhere all summer... which of the remixes is your favourite? I'm still deciding.
Great new single from Canada's Azari & III, great video and some excellent remixes available soon from Jamie Jones and Art Department. Should be another anthem this summer, Reckless with your Love was played by all in 2010, definite buzz whenever I drop the JJ mix.
