The Noodleman

The Noodleman is definitely a name to watch in 2010. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, his original productions, re-edits & remixes are some of the best things I've heard on Soundcloud recently. His highly rated Starlight track (which features on my February - Falling Mix) will be released on the "Under The Shade / 3rd Strike" label, complete with an awesome remix from fellow Canadian Eddie C.

This hour long mix showcases some of his latest tracks & I think you'll agree it's pretty damn tasty.

New Temper Trap Paradise 45 Remix

Oh yes just got this down from Soundcloud,. Cagedbaby & Guy Williams have remixed Sweet Disposition to great effect. I loved the track anyway but the mixes commisioned were all a bit LAAARGE for my liking Angello & Axwell kinda thing.

This mix is much more my bag, is available free and pushes the track into Hercules-Blind territory. Will cane this one.

If we built a mountain, baby.....

Just back from a very, very special time in Berlin - think I might keep the goings-on for a separate post - suffice to say that my disco batteries are now fully re-charged & am looking forward to more of the same over the Easter weekend with Brighton's groove based selectors!!!

Just stumbled across this little beauty on youtube - A Man Called Adam performing Barefoot in the Head live at the Town and Country club in London back in 1991.

Sally Rodgers on fine form, complete with whistle and Shaun Ryder locks. Some excellent crowd shots will take you right down memory lane!!

Have a great weekend & we'll see you on the dancefloor ;-)

Greg Wilson @ The Loft, Brighton - Video footage

Greg Wilson at Disco Deviant - The Loft, Brighton, Feb 12 2010 from Paul Budd on Vimeo.

With Friday's party at the Globe just around the corner and a few days of blue sky under our belts, what better than a little Metro Area to help get us over the Wednesday hump and ready for weekend?!

Originally released in 2001 on Morgan Geist's Environ Records, "Let's Get..." could be found on the flip of Metro Area 4 E.P. along with "Strut" - with their all conquering Miura on the A side.

Trainspotters may notice that Metro Area 4 is the only EP in the series which does not feature vibrant colours on the vinyl label (the EP was mastered in New York on 10th September 2001 - a day before the terrorist attacks & the black replaced the bright colours out of respect for their city).

Still sounding as fresh today as ever, Metro Area's sound is part disco, deep house, techno, electro and boogie - using both live and electronic instruments, each release has an indisputable warmth and a groove responsible for many dance floor shivers ;-)

I'm sure most of you reading this will be very well acquainted with Metro Area, if not, I'd absolutely recommend purchasing a copy of their self titled album (also on Environ), and their recent FabricLive mix isn't too shabby either.....

The weekend is now even closer :-)

Disco Deviant have booked one of the scene's most prolific DJ/producers - The Revenge. He has produced some of the finest tunes of recent years and his extended remixes certainly do the bizzo.

From the Ooft camp in Glasgow, The Revenge aka Graeme Clark has progressed from local DJ/Producer and blogger to an international DJ, showcasing his talents far and wide.

His sets are usually a mixture of his own productions, remixes and edits alongside some stellar disco treats and deep house and Detroit flavoured delicacies. Reports from his gigs have been glowing, and unlike some producers, this guy is definitely a DJ first and foremost.

This is a great chance to catch The Revenge on his Brighton debut, at Audio on Fri 16 April. He already has a string of bookings in 2010 including major festivals and a tour of Oz.

Also on the bill is Pablo Contraband delivering his disco centric sound, compromising of disco and funk edits and originals with some classic house usually included in the mix.

There is also a rumour ; as yet unconfirmed, that the Wolf music guys will also be on DJ duty... quite a night.

Early Birds are just £5 each on RA & Skiddle

Disco Deviant presents The Revenge at Audio: Lineups, tickets and info

Disco Deviant monthly @ The Globe (1st Friday of the month)

First Friday of every month Disco Deviant checks in to Brighton's only Disco boozer for a basement session we relish.

Nice vibe, decent sound, and a proper music policy make it our kind of venue. This month is gonna be a goody.

3 of the DD blog's authors will be in the house providing the night's soundtrack - most likely made up of disco, edits, modern and classics, slo-mo house, deep and chuggy stuff, some out right party bangers and double dipped acid housers.

DJ's: Pablo Contraband - Local Zero - Andy G

Downstairs from 9 - 3am +
