| Disco Deviant bring Greg Wilson back to Brighton for what promises to be another great night. Greg Wilson needs little in the way of introduction and has been a firm favorite of ours having provided the sound track at a few almost legendary nights for us here in Brighton. 2010 has probably been one of his most successful years to date both as a DJ and remixer alike. Pablo Contraband has honed his sound over the years and seems to have nailed down delivering an exciting mix of new tracks alongside some classic sounds from house to soul, funk and disco. Always interesting. Also added to the line up is Matthew Burgess (Lowlife), he's played a massive part in the Lowlife parties over the years and was a favourite at Vintage and Electric Elephant this year too. We're happy to have him on board. Grab an early bird for £5 until mid Jan before they go up to £7. These parties do normally sell out. Tickets: Rounder / Resident / 412 Fashion / Dance 2 Or Online via RA http://www.residentadvisor ![]() |

Souled Out - Brighton's No 1 Soul Choir at Corn exchange
We went to see Souled Out perform at The Corn Exchange in Brighton last night, it was an excellent night. A 100 strong community choir performing classic soul from Fatback band 'I found lovin' to Stevie ' You are my everything' and Aretha ' Say a little prayer' - Really good atmosphere and a great sing along.
We had a blast signing and dancing, there were people of all ages in the choir and audience and the event really unified the crowd. Audience participation was wholeheartedly encouraged, the band were superb, tight and funky all night.
Check the footage out and if you like what you see then maybe you would like to get involved, it's open to everyone and anyone, with rehearsals every Tuesday - see HERE for details.

Disco Deviant August schedule and ting
Finally found the time for a post to keep you all up to date with what's happening on the DD front in August. It's been a busy period, the highlight being The King & Queen gig with Greg Wilson & Co. Big thank-you for coming and making that a great night. We had a lot of fun. Considering further nights there... Photos are up HERE
OK this coming weekend is the first Vintage festival at Goodwood. The Line up is like a who's who of British DJ's and club nights. Happy to be playing the roller disco on Sunday afternoon (1.30pm) Hope to see a few of you over the weekend.
Rampling late Friday, Lowlife on the Saturday, Weatherall in the warehouse and Greg on Sunday are a few I plan to be at. Bands, workshops, fashion, movies and lots of DJ's to take in over the weekend. Take a closer look HERE
Pleased to have two great DJ's joining the ever growing list of Disco Deviant guests in August. Rob Acteson was one of the pioneers of the acid house scene in the late 80's and has been DJing professionally since the mid 80's. He's joining me for a Boogie set Above Audio on 20th Aug. His Classified nights are still going strong and he's a much loved figure on the underground scene. Rob can also be name checked in Last Night A DJ Saved My Life should you wish to check his pedigree.
Nick V is a resident at Mona in Paris and consistently pleases Parisian crowds there. We've got him over for a couple of slot's in Brighton over the Bank Holiday weekend, a firm favourite of my wife, looking forward to him treating us to his genre hopping sound. Friday 27th @ The Globe - Followed by a daytime party on the terrace at Audio on the Saturday 3-9pm.
I'll be guesting alongside Norman Jay at The Coalition on Fri 27th as part of his 30 years of Good Times night. Glad to get in on that later.
Finally we finish the weekend in style with a secret rooftop party in Hove - location is kept a secret. We run from 2.30-11.30pm and the vibe is second to none. Those in attendance in May will vouch for that. guest list only, email: contrabanddjs@gmail.com with names for guestlist. This party is for our friends and their friends only.

Fri 27th Disco Deviant Special w/ Nick V (Mona, Paris) & Pablo @ The Globe, Brighton
Fri 27th Norman Jay & Pablo Contraband @ Coalition, Brighton

Vintage festival at Goodwood - Aug 13/14/15 Looks bloody great
Massive DJ line up for this one, lots of bands and a great concept. Some great workshops and activities throughout the weekend. This festival looks hard to beat for originality, a look at British cool over the past 5 decades, a good chance to look at the scenes' fashions & music.
Wayne Hemingway is behind the festival and he has pulled in curators such as Snowboy and Greg Wilson to program the Soul Casiono, Roller Disco and 80's Warehouse.
If this is done well it should be like putting your head in the door of each decade and partying there for a bit. Keb Darge, Colin Curtis, George Powers (Crackers) and Les Spaine are all playing so I expect am education is on the cards too. Norman Jay is playing a soul set in the casino as well. Good Times I'm sure.
I will be playing in the Roller Disco on Sunday at 1.30pm - Hope to see a few of you there.
